EXCLUSIVE: GB News has been told the the welcoming of migrants was akin to ‘opening Pandora’s box’
A former NYPD detective has said New York City is “under siege” from migrants after it was revealed the city has received over 110,000 in the last year alone.
Bo Dietl said he had “never seen anything more tragic” than the current situation and warned that New Yorkers could be in danger.
According to the New York mayor Eric Adams, the city received 15,000 migrants two years ago but this number has now surged to over 110,000.
Millions of dollars are being thrown at the issue in order to house and feed the surging number of migrants.

The 72-year-old ex-police officer told GB News: “What we have in New York City right now is this city under siege.
“I just drove by 50th St and Lexington Avenue, an old hotel that was closed down is being reopened. They are stuffing all these migrants in any and every place they can.”
He added: “Some of these illegals are murderers. They're drug dealers. All they are are people that want to cause harm to us.
“You also have good people, but you have to know who's coming into your country.”

He went on to suggest that current New York mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul should camp out in front of the White House in order to pressure Biden into intervening.
When asked whether Biden had let down New York, Dietl told GB News: “I don't want to get into politics. How has the president let it down? By not sealing these borders up, but not realizing what we're going through right now.
“I'm sorry to say I believe the president's incapable of really comprehending what the hell is going on.
“He's getting told what to say and steered around. The guy can't even walk off the stage or know where he's going, and this is real.

“I'm not trying to be a wise**s on this. I'm telling you, the man is out of it and he's running the country.”
The comments come after the New York City Mayor issued a damning message to Joe Biden warning that the migrant crisis could “destroy the city”.
“This issue will destroy New York City,” Adams said.
“We're getting 10,000 migrants a month... Now we're getting people from all over the globe have made their minds up that they're going to come through the southern part of the border and come into New York City.”
Adams also bemoaned the lack of support from the White House in a scathing blue-on-blue attack.
He added: “Month after month I stood up and said this is gonna come to a neighbourhood near you.
“Well, we’re here, we’re getting no support on this national crisis, and we’re receiving no support.”
Dietl went on to say that he agreed with Adams’s comments, adding that the welcoming of migrants was like “opening Pandora’s box”.
“He was trying to do the right thing,” the former detective said.
“He felt as though we're a sanctuary city. But not in his wildest dreams did he ever imagine this influx.”
The Biden administration has set aside $770million for New York and several other cities to help support migrants.
“The Administration is committed to working to identify ways to improve efficiencies and maximize the resources the federal government can provide to communities across the country,” White House spokesperson Angelo Fernández Hernández told CBS News.
“Recently, Senior Advisor to the President Tom Perez travelled to New York to continue the close coordination with our state and city partners.”
